As part of our commitment to the continued support of animal charities throughout the UK, we recently launched our Petplan Charity Days.
The Charity Days are an initiative set up by our senior management team to allow Petplan employees the opportunity to take time out of their working day to volunteer at animal charities and re-homing centres.
The first charity that our team of Petplan employees attended was the National Animal Welfare Trust's (NAWT) Watford centre.
With their open day approaching, which is the charity's key fundraising opportunity, they were in desperate need of volunteers to help them set-up.
With a team of nine employees, our Petplan team took off their business shirts and got stuck into a hard day of work – from setting up stands and organising donated items, to cleaning out areas of the centre, the team worked hard to help make sure the centre would be ready for a great open day. However, despite all the hard work, the team did manage to find a bit of down time to visit the dogs, cats and rabbits waiting to be re-homed.
Our help at the centre enabled their staff to spend more time doing what they do best – caring for animals, and ultimately helped the charity to raise nearly £4,000 at the open day.
NAWT Watford Centre Manager Jackie de Friez wrote to us shortly after the open day, commenting; "We can't thank Petplan enough for all their help, they were a fantastic bunch who were all more than willing to get involved. Having their help made such a difference to our open day."
If you're an animal charity or know of charity who would like to take part in a Petplan Charity Day in 2012 please contact events@petplan.co.uk.
Our next Petplan Charity Day is at the Dogs Trust's Harefield Centre on Friday 21 October.
