Pawz For Thought wins the Petplan Charity Prize Draw

Pawz For Thought in Sunderland has won a valuable donation of £500 from the UK's leading pet insurance provider, Petplan. The money will be spent on neuter sprays and vaccinations and also will help pay to micro-chip the next few pets that come into the shelter.

Lynne Ebdale, a Director at Pawz for Thought says "We're really grateful for the donation from Petplan. The charity cares for many stray, unwanted and abandoned animals. Also all staff members are volunteers, so it's lovely for Petplan to recognise the team for our hard work.

Every re-homed dog from Pawz for Thought receives a four weeks free Petplan insurance voucher - we always recommend that owners take out pet insurance so that if a big vet bill comes along it isn't overwhelming."

Petplan works with more re-homing charities than any other insurer to help fund the care of thousands of homeless cats and dogs. The company offers a cover note for four weeks free insurance to every owner adopting pets through the shelters it supports and also provides four weeks free insurance vouchers to visitors and supporters of the charities. Each month a prize draw is held from all the vouchers and cover notes issued and one charity benefits from the prize fund.

Simon Wheeler, Head of Petplan said: "We understand what a difficult time it can be rehoming a cat or dog and are glad to offer this extra peace of mind during the first few weeks of the animal's life in a new environment. Having your pet insured is an important part of taking care of its future health and of helping you to contain any unforeseen veterinary costs."
