Local Animal Shelter wins Prize Donation
The Blue Cross wins the Petplan Charity Prize Draw
The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Southampton has won a donation of £500 from pet insurance provider, Petplan. Leading insurers Petplan offer a cover note for six weeks free insurance to every owner who adopts a pet through an animal re-homing charity and a voucher for insurance for the visitors and supporters of the charity. Each month a prize draw is then held from all the vouchers and cover notes issued and one charity benefits from the prize fund.
Petplan works with more re-homing charities than any other insurer to help fund the care of thousands of homeless cats and dogs. The free insurance offer lends a helping hand to owners during the busy period of settling new pets in and adjusting to their needs.
Kellie Brooks, Blue Cross centre manager at Southampton said: "We are delighted to win this month's Petplan charity draw. The funds will be used to help enrich the lives of all the animals in our care. New scratching posts for cats, a dog agility tunnel and rabbit tunnels will provide the animals with activities to keep them occupied and entertained until they find the loving new homes they deserve."
Simon Wheeler, Petplan’s Head of Marketing said: “We understand what a difficult time it can be re-homing a cat or dog and are glad to offer this extra peace of mind during the first few weeks of the animal’s life in a new environment. Having your pet insured is an important part of taking care of its future health and of helping you to contain any unforeseen veterinary costs.”
Petplan is committed to aiding the valuable work that re-homing shelters do. Charities such as Battersea, Cats Protection, The Blue Cross and Dogs Trust are just a few of those that have benefited.
