Japanese Shiba Inu wins Petplan Junior Stakes Final
A Japanese Shiba Inu called Jean Paul was recently announced as the winner of the prestigious Petplan Junior Stakes Final dog show.
Petplan, the UK's favourite pet insurance provider, worked with 4 established General Championship Shows across the country, to hold the Junior Stakes series in 2011 that concluded in a grand finale between 28 dogs to find the Petplan Junior of the Year.
The winning owner from Penwortham, Preston Charlotte Roskell commented: "I'm shocked! I didn't expect we would win and the level of competition was so high. I had a great day and thanks go to Petplan for organising such a brilliant show."
In second place was Ozzie a Welsh Terrier, coming in third Estee a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, Bruno a Chinese Crested Dog placed forth and in fifth position was Rufus a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
The Manchester Championship Show also saw the start of a new format for 2012 Petplan Junior Stakes. The Petplan Junior Stakes will now take place at eight General Championship shows, with one Stakes class being held on each day of the selected shows, regardless of grouping. There will be an increased prize fund of £275 per day available for the lucky winners.
The General Championship Shows are as follows:
|Manchester Dog Show Society||19th – 22nd January|
|Bath Canine Society||25th – 28th May|
|Southern Counties Canine Association||1st – 3rd June|
|Blackpool & District Canine Society||22nd – 24th June|
|East of England Agricultural Society||6th – 8th July|
|Leeds City & District Canine Association||27th – 29th July|
|Darlington Dog Show Society||14th – 16th September|
|Midland Counties Canine Society||25th – 28th October|
Continuing its relationship with some of the country's most prominent shows, in addition to providing further prizes for all the daily winners, Petplan will be giving away 500 branded Poopa Scoopas which will be available from the company's gazebo at each of the shows and they will also be running a significant prize-draw.
Petplan's Head of Marketing Isabella Von Mesterhazy commented, "We were delighted with the success of the 2011 final and are looking forward to strengthening our relationship with breeders, exhibitors and shows around the country during 2012. We have already received positive feedback about this year's increased prize fund which will help shows to encourage more entries and maintain the high standard of this well established competition."
Petplan has long prided itself on its strong relationship with dog breeders and exhibitors and is sure that the new-style Junior Stakes will be supported as enthusiastically as ever.
