Petplan Charitable Trust donates £10000 Dogs for the Disabled
Petplan is delighted to announce that the Petplan Charitable Trust will be awarding Dogs for Disabled a donation of £10,000 over 2 years, to help fund their puppy training programme.
Thanks to the kind donations and contributions from Petplan customers, the Petplan Charitable Trust has raised over £5 million, since it started in 1994, helping less fortunate pets, through grants and donations, and providing much-needed support to projects and causes, such as the Dogs for the Disabled.
Dogs for the Disabled trains assistance dogs for children and adults who suffer from mental and physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and autism.
The donation from the Petplan Charitable Trust will help train puppies into fully qualified assistance dogs, so that they can provide support to their disabled owners.
From the tender age of eight weeks old, Dogs for the Disabled find suitable puppies to potentially become some of the nation's most helpful dogs. Once they finish their training the dogs will be able to help their owners do such things as take washing out of the washing machine, open and close doors, pick up the post and even help them undress.
