Petplan Dog show comes to Darlington

Petplan, the UK's largest pet insurance provider, will host a Petplan Junior Stakes Qualifier at Darlington General Championship Show in Ripon, which runs from 16th-18th September.

Now in its 17th year, the Petplan Junior Stakes has established itself as a popular UK dog showing competition for dogs and bitches aged between 6 and 18 months old.

With four qualifying rounds held across the country, the Darlington General Championship Show is the last round of this year's competition before the finals, with qualifiers already held earlier this year at the Bath Canine General Championship Show , Southern Counties Championship Dog Show and Blackpool Canine Society.

At Darlington one representative will be chosen from each of the seven groups regardless of sex to compete in the final which will be held at the Manchester Dog Show Society, at the New Bingley Hall.

Held in the picturesque parklands of the prestigious Newbury Hall for the sixth year, the Darlington Dog Show is considered the event for dog-lovers in the North of England, scheduling all breeds with or without Challenge Certificates, and to encourage the younger generation of dog showing it offers KCJO and YKC handling classes.

David Guy, the Society Secretary, is looking forward to the show hosting the Petplan Junior Stakes, which has proved a major success at the three other general championship shows that have hosted a qualifier.

Petplan's Communications Manager Carl Stephens commented, "We are delighted to be working with Darlington Championship Dog Show this year and I have no doubt that this qualifier will attract a strong number of high quality entries."

As part of the Petplan Junior Stakes qualifying series Petplan is also giving breeders and dog lovers the chance to win a VIP weekend for two to the Amsterdam Winner Dog Show, taking place in November 2011, which includes return flights and three nights accommodation, admission to the show, dinner and drinks. The finals of the Petplan Junior Stakes will be held at the Manchester Championship Dogs show, early next year.
