Petplan Dog show comes to Newbury

Petplan, the UK's favourite pet insurance provider, is once again returning to the Southern Counties General Championship Show in Newbury, which runs from 3 – 5 June, to host a Petplan Junior Stakes Qualifier.

Now in its 17th year, the Petplan Junior Stakes has established itself as a popular UK dog showing competition for dogs and bitches aged between 6 and 18 months old.

With four qualifying rounds held across the country, the Southern Counties is the second round of this year's competition, with qualifiers at Blackpool Canine Society and Darlington Championship Dog Show still to come.

From each qualifier one representative will be chosen from each of the seven groups regardless of sex to compete in the final which will be held later in the year. While prize money will be awarded in each of the seven classes at the four shows, with the place getters taking away £30, £20, £15, £10 and £5, and a special rosette and commemorative prize will be presented to the winners.

On behalf of its committee and its exhibitors Southern Counties Chairman, David Cavill, said that he was absolutely delighted with the news that the Association had been selected to run one of the four heats of the Petplan Junior Stakes competition once again.

"Southern Counties is delighted to have been selected and at it has long prided itself on being an "exhibitors' show," says David.

Now in its 100th year, the show will be offering a reduced entry rate to the show, as well as great cuisine at numerous food stalls and drinks at the licensed bar as well as plenty of car parking facilities.

Petplan's Communications Manager Carl Stephens commented, "We are delighted to be working with the Southern Counties Canine Association this year. I have no doubt this year's Petplan Junior Stakes will be bigger and better than ever."

As part of the Petplan Junior Stakes qualifying series Petplan is also giving breeders and dog lovers the chance to win a VIP weekend for two to the Amsterdam Winner Dog Show, taking place in November 2011, which includes return flights and three nights accommodation, admission to the show, dinner and drinks.
