Petplan Dog show comes to the Scottish highlands

Petplan, the UK’s favourite pet insurance provider, has announced their sponsorship of the Scottish Kennel Club dog show, which will run from the 21st – 23rd May.

The Scottish Kennel Club, in Musselburgh, has been chosen as one of the four Championship Dog Shows to host the new and improved Petplan Junior Stakes Qualifier in May 2010. Petplan hope the new format will get more Scottish dog lovers attending the show.

Petplan’s Marketing Manager Alison Andrew commented, “We are delighted to be working with the Scottish Kennel Club and want to open the event up to dog lovers from all over Scotland by making it easier for the general public to understand.”

Petplan will be handing out booklets which will help explain the basics of dog showing, additionally, expert “guides” will be available at the venue to help newcomers and members of the public around the show, by explaining the judging system and answering questions. Petplan will also have a hospitality area at the show available to customers.

Myra Orr, the Scottish Kennel Club secretary said, “The Scottish Kennel Club is delighted that its May Championship Show has been chosen to host one of the new Petplan Junior Stakes 2010.

“We look forward to working with Petplan and with their support we're confident that our show will attract a good entry, generate a positive message to the public on the benefits of dog ownership and demonstrate all that can be enjoyed from attending dog shows.”

The Scottish Kennel Club is held at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, located by the airport, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. As well as dog showing there will be a number of attractions such as Championship Obedience and Agility shows, KC Good Citizen tests, YKC and JHA handling classes, in addition to eye-testing and micro-chipping services. There will also be opportunities for visitors to experience great cuisine at numerous food stalls and enjoy drinks at the licensed bar as well as plenty of car parking facilities.

The Petplan Junior stakes qualifiers will be at Southern Counties, Blackpool and the City of Birmingham with the final being held in Manchester in 2011.
