Petplan Junior Stakes finalists selected in Edinburgh

The first finalists for the revamped 2010 Petplan Junior Stakes Qualifiers were selected at last week’s Scottish Kennel Club show in Edinburgh.

The qualifiers are the first of four Petplan Junior Stake qualifiers which will also be held at Southern Counties, Blackpool and City of Birmingham before culminating in the final at Manchester’s 2011 show.

With over 113 dogs entered across the seven groups the competition was extremely tough.

The group winners were:

• Gundog Group – Lokmadi Jay Tood, Pointer
• Hound Group – Windspiel, Greyhound
• Pastoral Group – Breaksea Amazing Grace, Bearded Collie
• Terrier Group – Papplewick Knockado
• Toy Group – Florita Tipitina, Italian Greyhound
• Utility Group – Dvojica Voulez Vouz, Dalmation
• Working Group – Sandbears, Newfoundland

To help attract more people to the show Petplan produced booklets to help explain the basics of dog showing as well as providing expert guides at the venues, who were available to give tours, explaining the different aspects of the show, as well as answering any questions and queries.

Petplan’s Marketing Manager Alison Andrew commented, “We are thrilled that the launch of our new format was with the Scottish Kennel Club and entire event was a huge success. As well as attracting a strong group of competitors, our aim was to also draw more people to the event which we successfully did. We had over 300 customers visit the Petplan customer marquee over the three days and our guided tours and handbooks allowed newcomers to understand what a dog show is all about.”
