1971-2011 NAWT Celebrates 40th Anniversary Year

Petplan is pleased to support one of the UK's top 10 animal charities, the National Animal Welfare Trust as they kick-off the celebrations for their 40th anniversary celebrations this summer.

A host of activities are planned, many of which will be played out at the charity's four rescue centres in the South and South West of England.

About NAWT

Founded by Sidney Hicks in 1971, the Trust was originally set up to find homes for dogs destined for laboratories. By the start of the 70s its remit was expanded to help all sorts of domestic animals that were lost, homeless or abandoned. The NAWT imposed a non-destruction policy right from the start – unusual for animal charities at the time – and maintains its promise to the present day.

To mark the 40th anniversary the NAWT has created a list of 40-plus interesting facts about their history, rescue centres, fundraising activities and lots more. The list is available for you to download using the button below:
