The Porthcawl Animal Welfare Society wins £500 Charitable donation

The Porthcawl Animal Welfare Society, in Mid Glamorgan, has won a valuable £500 donation from the UK's favourite pet insurance provider, Petplan.

The Porthcawl Animal Welfare Society, also known as P.A.W.S, is a charity set up 30 years ago, to help make the lives of animals in the regional area a little better offering a range of facilities and services, such as micro-chipping, short and long stay kennelling, pet vaccination, neutering/spaying, dog-walking and even rehoming animals. Run almost entirely by volunteers, the Society continues to grow, with the help of sponsorships and donations from the business sector and the hard work of P.A.WS. Members.

"We are absolutely over the moon to have won £500 from Petplan," says Pat Evens, Secretary and Trustee of the Porthcawl Animal Welface Society. "The money will help us to care for the animals we have here. This is such a large donation as we are such a small charity; we will be able to help more animals thanks to the help and generosity of Petplan."

Petplan works with more rehoming charities than any other insurer to help fund the care of thousands of homeless cats and dogs. The company offers four weeks free insurance to every owner adopting pets through the shelters it supports and also offers free insurance vouchers to visitors and supporters of the charities. Each month a prize draw is held from all the insurance vouchers issued and one charity benefits from the prize fund.

Alison Andrew, Marketing Manager for Petplan says, "We understand what a difficult time it can be rehoming an animal and are glad to offer this extra peace of mind during the first few weeks of a pet's life in a new environment. Having your pet insured is an important part of taking care of its future health and it also helps you to plan any unforeseen veterinary costs."

Petplan is committed to aiding the valuable work that rehoming shelters do. Charities such as Battersea, Cats Protection, Blue Cross and Dogs Trust are just a few of those that have benefited.
