Starry eyed rabbits to feature in exclusive Petplan TV ad

Petplan, the UK’s largest pet insurer, has selected a number of fame-seeking rabbits to feature in an exclusive one-off television advert, to be aired on Wednesday 17th July.

The starry eyed rabbits will feature alongside a group of dogs and cats. The winning rabbits faced tough competition with over 29,000 photos of similarly fame hungry pets uploaded to the insurers Facebook page since the competition began in February. From the 29,000 100 finalists were handpicked by an independent panel of judges and the lucky 42 chosen following a public vote on Petplan’s Facebook page.

Amongst the rabbit stars of the advert is Jai, a Dwarf Lop rabbit from Rotheram who adores attention and Rupert, a Netherland Dwarf crossed with a Lionhead, from Shrewsbury, who enjoys nothing more than sitting on his owner’s bed to watch TV. Rupert’s owner, Rebekah Seward is excited to see her telly loving rabbit’s reaction when he sees himself on the small screen!

Isabella von Mesterhazy, Petplan’s Head of Marketing, said "At Petplan we pride ourselves on being ‘pet people’ and as a nation of known animal lovers, what better way to celebrate this than give real pets the chance to star in our TV ad. This competition captured genuine emotion and sentiment amongst pet owners and the final ad will evoke the same feelings when viewed."

The winning images will feature alongside the voice of Ben Miller from comedy double act Armstrong and Miller in a one-off television advert to be aired nationwide on primetime TV on Wednesday 17th July. To see their starring moment, tune into the TV programme the Zoo on ITV between 8pm-9pm. You will also be able to watch the advert on the Petplan website: www.petplan.co.uk and the Petplan UK Facebook page: www.facebook.com/PetplanUK.

The regarded rabbits are as follows:

  • Pasha a Mini Lop from Guernsey
  • Jai a Dwarf Lop from Rotherham
  • Harley a Harlaquin Mini Lop from Edinburgh
  • Rupert a Netherland Dwarf crossed with a Lionhead from Shrewsbury
