Hounds for Heroes does amazing work providing specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of both the UK Armed Forces and the Emergency Services.
But don't just take our word for it - see what EJ, a Hounds for Heroes assistance dog, has to say...
"Hello there pet lovers, my name’s EJ and I’m a super smart, incredibly handsome, (even if I do say so myself) Hounds for Heroes assistance dog!
"Though I am a BIG fan of cuddles and treats (if you ever have any going spare just let me know), I love nothing more than helping my best friend and founder of Hounds for Heroes, Allen Parton, go about his hectic day to day schedule working tirelessly to make the charity as fantastic as it is today.
"You can read more about Hounds for Heroes and our mission to provide specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of the UK Armed Forces and emergency services here.
"Usually Grace, who is a puppy parent to my friend Bunker, writes the blog but this time I've taken over to tell you about a great day out my fellow assistance dogs Rookie, Cluney and I had with our partners Allen and Anne at the Petplan offices.
"Naturally, our friends at Petplan were absolutely besotted with us, and just loved giving us lots of fuss and cuddles! Thanks to their generous support, our human partners have the peace of mind that, should we ever feel under the weather, our treatment is covered so we can get back to training and doing what we love best – helping our partners.
"Throughout our visit, Allen told them all about the fantastic things that dogs like Rookie and I can do to help our human partners, like operating cash machines and using an oyster card on the London Underground (believe me, I’ve seen lots of humans make a right mess of that!).
"We are also trained canine first aiders. My mentor and predecessor, Endal, put an unconscious Allen in the recovery position, got his phone and held it up to Allen’s face after the pair had been hit by a car.
"When Allen still wouldn’t wake up, brave old Endal ran to a nearby hotel and raised the alarm. They both got a ride in an ambulance and Allen made a speedy recovery. Endal taught me well and now I’d do anything for Allen, in fact I never sleep unless I’m touching his wheelchair, just so that I know he’s safe.
