Should the worst happen and you need to make a claim against your Petplan policy, we will do everything we can to settle your claim quickly and with as little fuss as possible. Here are the five easy steps to making a claim.
Step 1
Download a claim form at www.petplan.co.uk/claims, where you can also find helpful advice on how to fill the form in, and even track the progress of your claim. Alternatively, you can request a claim form by calling 0845 074 3030.
Step 2
Fill in the form (your vet needs to fill it in too) and get it back to us as soon as possible. We'll need a few simple details, such as your policy number and the date that the condition or injury first became apparent. We'll also ask for an itemised invoice from your vet.
Step 3
Once we've received your form and all the information needed, we'll proceed with your claim very quickly - in fact, we settle 90% of claims within five working days, often directly to the vet.
Step 4
For some claims we will need a little more information, but this is relatively unusual. If this is the case you'll receive a letter from us promptly, so waiting is kept to the absolute minimum.
Step 5
The claim is settled, and the appropriate funds are forwarded to you or your vet.
Some frequently asked questions...
Why do you need an itemised invoice?
Itemised invoices allow us to match the amounts claimed for and to make sure all the items on the invoice are covered by the terms of your policy. Fortunately, most surgeries issue detailed invoices, so this is rarely a problem.
Will you need my pet's full clinical history?
We'll sometimes ask for this if the condition or accident happened quite soon after the start of the policy, as any lifelong illness that was known to exist before the start of cover wouldn't be insured.
