We are thrilled to announce that we have now raised £1 million for our friends at animal charity Blue Cross.

These valuable funds, generated over the past 10 years, have contributed to the running costs of a dozen rehoming centres for dogs, cats, horses and rabbits, as well as four major animal hospitals across the UK.

Three in four of the UK’s two million pet rabbits are poorly cared for, according to a recent report by the RSPCA. Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW) aims to highlight the importance of looking after our nation’s third most popular type of pet.

Vets and rabbit specialists fear that owners are feeding their rabbits a poor diet, housing them in cramped hutches and failing to keep them up to date with necessary vaccinations.

With the help of ‘puppy parents’, the Hounds for Heroes charity trains dogs to assist former armed forces members and emergency service workers injured in the line of duty. Here, volunteer Grace Brandon talks about training cadet pup Bunker.

‘When I was accepted to be a puppy parent, I was very excited and could hardly wait for the puppy to arrive. I went to the local charity shops to buy bedding and lots of soft toys and picked up all the necessary equipment from the Hounds for Heroes centre – all I needed was the pup!
