Brian graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 1995 and has worked in over 250 practices as a clinical locum before setting up and developing his own veterinary practices as start-ups over the last 25 years. He currently owns and works as a clinician three days a week in his current practice in Suffolk. He was the UK Petplan Vet of the Year in 2008.
Brian is a past president or co-founder of various veterinary associations. He is a regular speaker at conferences in the UK and abroad and also works as a coach and consultant. He is an Associate Professor at Nottingham University Vet School. In 2020 he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for outstanding contribution to clinical practice and in 2022 he was awarded the RCVS Inspiration Award.
Aside from his academic and professional achievements, Brian has also done exceptional work for charity. In 2017 he ran 10 marathons in 10 days across the UK and Ireland, raising £120,000 for Brooke Animal Hospital. In May 2020 he went several steps further, running 31 marathons in 31 days in aid of StreetVet, a charity that attends to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.
