Petplan Junior Stakes 2011 shows announced
Petplan, the UK's favourite pet insurance provider, has announced the General Championship Shows that will host Petplan's Junior Stakes qualifiers next year.
After successfully launching a new format in 2010 for the Petplan Junior Stakes qualifiers, General Championship Shows across the UK were once again invited to submit proposals to Petplan to become one of four shows to host the 2011 qualifiers.
The four shows chosen to host a Petplan Junior Stakes qualifier are: Bath Canine Society, Southern Counties Canine Association, Blackpool Canine Society and Darlington Championship Dog Show.
The selected shows will each receive support from Petplan, which includes a £5,000 financial investment, to help with running costs and advertising, and as well as receiving marketing support, which will include each show being promoted to Petplan's extensive customer base. The shows will feature in their bi-annual customer magazine, monthly e-newsletters and dedicated websites for customers and breeders. The additional exposure will help increase public awareness and create excitement within the breeder and dog showing community.
Petplan's Marketing Manager Alison Andrew commented, "We were delighted with the response from the General Championship Shows who wanted to be part of this competition, and I'd like to thank all the shows that took the time to make a submission. It was a very tough decision, but we'd like to congratulate all the selected shows. We're looking forward to working with each show and I have no doubt this year's Petplan Junior Stakes will be bigger and better than ever."
"Last year was the first time we launched the new format and it worked really well with entries for each qualifier well up on previous years. This year we are confident that entries will increase further and boost all four shows."
The Petplan Junior Stakes, now in its 17th year, has established itself as a popular and well supported event in the UK dog showing circuit, open to dogs and bitches between 6-8 months old, and the four chosen shows have all expressed their delight at the opportunity to be involved in such a well established competition.
The Bath Canine Society site which owns its own ground is situated on over 50 acres of land and surrounded by the stunning hills of Bath. In its 133rd year, the show will be offering free entry to visitors and will be providing seminars, demonstrations and exhibits to help educate visitors and promote the importance of canine health and welfare, as well as a crèche to enable pet owners to leave their dogs whilst they enjoy the show.
Ben Ford, Secretary, is thrilled and excited about the prospect of hosting a Petplan Junior Stakes qualifier at the 2011 Bath Show.
Southern Counties, in Newbury, has long prided itself on being an "exhibitors' show" with many attractions including special Charity stakes classes. Now in its 100th year, the show will be offering a reduced entry rate to the show. Visitors will also be able to enjoy great cuisine at numerous food stalls and enjoy drinks at the licensed bar as well as plenty of car parking facilities.
On behalf of its committee and its exhibitors Southern Counties Chairman, David Cavill, said that he was absolutely delighted with the news that the Association had been selected to run one of the four heats of the Petplan Junior Stakes competition once again.
Blackpool has become known as one of the most progressive shows in the country and the dog show will again be held in summer at the popular holiday area. With its large public attendance, it is well known as a local attraction, enjoying great support from the local council and for the second year running the Petplan Junior Stakes will be held at this venue.
Secretary Steve Hall said, "The Blackpool Championship Show is delighted to be selected, once again, to host the Petplan Junior Stakes. We see this as a great opportunity to work alongside a household name."
Held in the picturesque parklands of the prestigious Newbury Hall, near Ripon, the Darlington Dog Show is considered the event for dog-lovers in the North of England. Possibly unique in the Championship Show league, it schedules all breeds with or without Challenge Certificates, and to encourage the younger generation of dog showing it offers KCJO and YKC handling classes.
David Guy, the Society Secretary, is overjoyed with the news that the Society had been selected to run one of the four heats of the Petplan Junior Stakes competition.
